A U.S. warplane shot down a Syrian jet on Sunday near the Islamic State-held city of Raqqah, according to US officials, creating the latest escalation between the U.S. and Syria since the civil war began six years ago. The Pentagon said the U.S.-led coalition took the unprecedented move after a Syrian Su-22 attack aircraft bombed its allies who were fighting Islamic State militants south of the city of Tabqah, roughly 25 miles west of Raqqah. About 4:30 p.m., Syrian forces loyal to President Bashar Assad attacked U.S. ground partners in the recently recaptured town of Jadin, south of Tabqah, according to a U.S. military timeline. The assault drove the militia fighters from the town. But the U.S. scrambled aircraft to fly over the battlefield in “a show of force” that stopped the pro-g...

What is the difference between a person who robs the citizens of their collective commonwealth and future, and someone who kidnaps people for ransom? Note: the former's action has led to the death of many, unnoticed, while the latter's action has, from all available report hasn't led to any death of a victim, or victim's relative! Meanwhile, I'm not supporting kidnapping, but let us weigh the both crimes committed by a 'distinguished' person, and an 'ordinary' person! Until we start treating criminals cases seriously, our dear country will keep being an object in motion without movement!

Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Sunday stated that the Presidency ignored inviting the leader of the indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu because the Presidency did not consider Kanu as a leader of thought in the south east. But he said that Kanu’s non invitation did not mean that he would not be invited if there was the need for the Federal Government to invite him for discussion should the need arise in the future. According to him, “Well, the thing is that we were looking for leaders of the people, leaders of thought and we do not see him as a leader of thought in the east. “May be opportunity will come at one time or the other for him to be engaged. “But so far, what we have done is to look at people who have influence in the communities, whether it is religious, whether it is traditional, whether it is political, social or governance. These are the people we brought in ...

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki and leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, cannot be released now despite being granted bail by a competent court of jurisdiction. In a chat with journalists at his home town in Kwara after a Ramadhan public lecture, Lai Mohammed said the Federal government would rather infringe on their personal freedom than put the entire country at risk. "We are talking about National Security. It might not be palatable to many people but I believe if there is evidence that one person moved $1.2 billion in two transactions in one day and up till today, he has refused to tell government where the money went to. And you are asking us to give him bail. Now which of these men can guarantee that if they give him bail, he would still stay in Nigeria. $1.2 billion can destabilize a country"he said
