Two commercial sex workers in Ogun state have been arrested by the state police command for allegedly killing one of their customers, Adeyinka Olayinka, at the KS Hotel, Ifo yesterday May 30th. According to a statement by the state police public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the commercial sex workers, Kudirat Raji alias Angela and Esther Basiru, stabbed the deceased with a broken bottle during an argument. The victim was supervising an ongoing construction work on his property and so he spent the night at the hotel. He contracted Kudirat Raji to pass the night with him on an agreed amount but reneged on their agreement. His refusal to pay the agreed amount led to a hot argument between them. While the argument was going on, Esther Basiru, a friend to Angela broke a bottle and injured the deceased’s friend who was at the scene. gathered that Blessing Omowera, a National Certificate in Education (NCE) holder, was arrested alongside her accomplice, Sola Kalejaiye, who is a teacher at Saint Monica Girls Grammar, and a traditionalist. According to the report at the Ondo Police Area Command, Omowera was said to have cut the finger nails and extracted blood of two pupils of God’s Heritage Nursery and Primary School, Ondo and kept it inside her bag. The pupils, whose names were given as Marvelous and Dominion (surnames withheld), were said to be pupils of primary three of the school.  One of the pupils was said to have complained of the pains to her father after the closing hours, which made one of the parents to have gone with her to the school. He later reported the incident at the Ondo Area Command in Ondo town. Tension is building up in the southeast states following tomorrow’s sit at home order called by Biafra agitators to honour its members who lost their lives in the struggle for a sovereign state of Biafra. Since Saturday, the presence of security officials has increased in various parts of the region. Checks by The Guardian showed that armoured carrier tanks have been manned by battle ready security officials as well as increased security check points in some strategic locations like Okigwe junction in Imo State and around army formations. Also, the Police surveillance helicopters have increased air patrol. Many schools in the zone, especially private schools have already declared Tuesday a school-free day. Some of the schools, which are on mid-term break , have extended their resumption till Wednesday.

A 23 year old mother, Arissa Ward has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after she allegedly smothered her child while they slept next to each other. Ward, called police in Middleton, Pennsylvania, on 30 December last year after she found her infant son unresponsive on the couch next to her where they had been sleeping.  She said she had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana before lying on the couch next to her son, who was two months and five days old. An autopsy carried out a week later found the child had died due to “traumatic asphyxia combined with smothering”.  The coroner also found traces of marijuana in the child’s system as Ms Ward had been breastfeeding. Ms Ward has now been charged with second-degree felony count of involuntary manslaughter and a first degree misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children. The UN Migration Agency (IOM) said  Friday  that 1,530 African migrants and refugees have so far died while crossing the Mediterranean sea in 2017. Speaking at the daily news briefing, Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, made the disclosure while giving the IOM report. According to Dujarric,  60,521 migrants and refugees have entered Europe by sea this year, with over 80 percent arriving in Italy and the remainder divided between Greece, Cyprus and Spain. ‘This number does not include some 6,000 people who have been rescued over the past 72 hours,” said Dujarric. ‘In terms of fatalities, there have been 1,530 migrants and refugees who have died this year on this route, a figure that roughly matches those for 2016 for the same period, he added 'However, the IOM warned that the deadliest season is starting right now, said the spokesman.

Priscilla Berfi, a 20-year-old Ghanaian girl has rendered her boyfriend homeless after she recently set his house at Deduako in the Oforikrom Constituency of the Ashanti Region ablaze for allegedly cheating on her. Pulse Ghana reports that there were no casualties recorded but the fire destroyed several properties. Narrating the shocking incident, the boyfriend, Kofi Adusei said he had ceased taking care of Priscilla, who is pregnant due to her bad attitude and lack of respect towards him. Church service at the Kairos Rhema Embassy in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state took an unusual turn when the wife of the church's pastor disrupted service to inform congregants that her husband had been cheating on her with a church member and had even impregnated the woman. When the pastor's wife, Idongesit Ese, came into the church premises, she was barred from entering the auditorium, reportedly because her husband, Pastor Nsikanabasi Ese, suspected she would try to pull such a stunt.
