Activities at NHIS paralyse, demand Yusuf’s removal

Image
Some employees of the National Health Insurance Scheme under the aegis of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria and the Joint Health Sector Union on Thursday paralysed activities at the NHIS. They demanded the removal of the recently reinstated Executive Secretary, Prof. Usman Yusuf. The protest began about 40 minutes after Yusuf resumed at the headquarters of the agency in Abuja. The unionists who sang protest songs said the reinstatement of Yusuf would thwart his investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The protesters, who described the reinstatament saga as ‘Yusufgate’, said it was a mockery of President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war. Addressing journalists on the premises of the agency, the Chairman of the NHIS arm of the union, Mr. Razaq Omomeji, said the protests would continue until Buhari reversed Yusuf’s reinstatement. Omomeji said Yusuf had bastardised the scheme and his return would only worsen affairs at the agenc...

Ameh Ebute false Obasanjo in open letter

Image
Ameh Ebute, a former President of the Nigerian Senate replies former President Olusegun Obasanjo over the issues raised in his special statement, accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of underperforming and urging him not to run for re-election. Your Excellency, Chief Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo, Former President of Nigeria, Obasanjo Farms, Otta, Ogun State. Your Excellency, Sir, Re: THE WAY OUT: A CLARION CALL FOR COALITION FOR NIGERIA MOVEMENT **********************************’ I am bemused to again read a public letter/special press statement from you addressed to President Muhammedu Buhari GCFR, titled “The Way Out: A Clarion Call For Coalition For Nigeria Movement.” I recall that in 2013, you wrote a similar letter to former President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR, which you captioned, “Before It Is Too Late.” In my considered and carefully drafted response to that letter to former President Jonathan, I faulted the contents of your epistle variously and returned the verdict ...

Fulani herdsmen reveal what will happen if Buhari is removed-2019

Image
Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Socio-cultural Association, has warned against any attempt to remove President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. Speaking with The Sun, Bodejo said the eyes of the Fulanis all over the country were ‘opened,’ stressing that Buhari was hated because of them. According to Bodejo, “Nobody should try to remove Buhari in 2019. All the Fulani in Nigeria today, our eyes are open. “All of us are behind Buhari; we have seen that they want to destroy the Fulani because of Buhari. “We would not allow anybody to intimidate the Federal Government or to take Buhari’s mandate; we would be ready to follow him and fight it. We are ready to do anything to ensure that Buhari comes back to complete the good work he is doing. “The people criticizing him are just few and nothing would affect his chances of coming back.”

Restore peace in Benue or forget 2019, Bafarawa tells Buhari

Image
A former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, on Friday said that there would be no elections in Nigeria in 2019 if the Federal Government failed to restore peace to Benue State. Bafarawa made the statement during a condolence visit to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State at the Government House in Makurdi, the state capital, to commiserate with him and the people of the state over the killings of 73 persons on January 1, 2018, by suspected Fulani herdsmen. Bafarawa said, “Why would there be an election in 2019 when there is no peace? The most important thing you can bring to a society is peace. When you bring peace to them, you have brought life and can then talk about the election.” Speaking further, Bafarawa said that while it was the duty of the Federal Government to put serious efforts to restore peace in Benue State and other parts of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari must involve other stakeholders, irrespective of political affiliation, to solv...

Electing prisoners is better than re-electing Buhari - Reno Omokri

Image
Electing prisoners is better than re-electing Buhari - Reno Omokri Read his piece below... There are three intelligence agencies in Nigeria, namely DSS, NIA and DIA. Each of them is headed by Northern Muslims. Two out of the three are from the same Katsina State as President Buhari. One out of the three comes from the President’s hometown, Daura. Is there a balance in our intelligence agencies? With no Christian or Southerner in the top intelligence strata, how can intelligence on issues like killer Fulani herdsmen and other national security challenges not be biased in favour of those who share religious and ethnic affinity with these intelligence chiefs? But an even more important question is this: Was Ayo Oke, the sacked DG of the NIA, set up to make way for a core Northern Muslim Director General? This is a valid question when you consider that two people were sacked at the same time, namely, Babachir Lawal, the thieving former Secretary to the Government of the Federatio...

Speaking with journalists when he received the returnees, Ejike said the returnees arrived at Port Harcourt International Airport, about 12.25 a.m. on board Max Air. Ejike said that the evacuation of Nigerians stranded in Lybia had been a huge success in spite of some challenges in Libya during the negotiations for their return. He said: “I am happy that the last set of returnees at the centre were all taken back to their various states on Jan. 15.” Ejike said th...
