Police probe alleged herdsmen attack on Falae’s farm
Police authorities in Ondo state have started investigations into an alleged herdsmen attack on the farm of former Secretary to the Government of the federation, Olu Falae.
The state police command refuted media reports that the herdsmen chased policemen deployed to check the situation out of Falae’s farm.
Media reports claim that some herdsmen stormed and destroyed the farm of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olu Falae located at Kajola, in Igbatoro area of Akure, Ondo state capital, last Thursday.
The reports explain further that the herdsmen attacked the policemen deployed to the farm, after Falae had called them to intervene.
The persistent invasion of the farm of the Elder statesman and its destruction by some herdsmen, led to his kidnap and death of one of his security men in September, 2015.
This recent alleged invasion has prompted reaction from the state police command.
Spokesman of the command, Femi Joseph, took his time to explain what transpired at the farm of the former finance minister.
He faulted claims that the herdsmen exchanged gun fire with the police team that went to the farm on a rescue mission.
Although Joseph said the state Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation, a group of herdsmen, under the aegis of Miyeti Allah Cattle Rearers, exonerated members of the body from the alleged attack.
The group says it is ready to work with the police to flush out the bad eggs among them.
For now, residents are waiting for the outcome of the police investigation, to know what indeed transpired at the farm of the elder statesman.
